Junior Church at Reigate Park: The History of Bread and Its Role in Christianity 🍞✝️

This week at Junior Church, we embarked on a fun and educational journey into the history of bread! We explored how bread has been a staple in human life for thousands of years, nourishing both the body and the soul. But bread isn’t just food – it has a special place in Christianity too.

We talked about the symbolic role of bread in the Bible and Christian worship. From the manna in the wilderness to the bread Jesus broke at the Last Supper, bread represents so much more than just sustenance. It’s a reminder of God's provision, faithfulness, and community.

During our session, we even had a guessing game about how many times bread is mentioned in the Bible – and two of us came really close! (Spoiler: it’s more than you might think! 😉) How about you? Care to take a guess?

To finish off, we put our hands to work and made some fresh soda bread. It was a lot of fun learning how to make it, and even more fun eating it! The bread turned out delicious, and we enjoyed it together, reflecting on how food and fellowship bring people closer – just like in the early Christian communities.

What a great way to learn, connect, and share together as a Junior Church family! 😊🍞
